Drawing Based on Russian ballerina of the 19th and the early 20th century

Anna Pavlova (January 31, 1881 – January 23, 1931)

Anna's signature dance solo was the Dying Swan ,

The short ballet has influenced interpretations

of Odette in Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.

Hope you all like the finished version :) It had lots of details especially her tutu/swan outfit, I love ballet and when i decided to illustrate the dying swan really wanted to base it on anna pavlova she was the perfect swan ballerina , i read in a article on her life when she was at her death bed she requested to see her swan tutu outfit one last time before she died, she loved what she did so much even to her last minutes of life , i respect that in artists so much  for ballet fans out there there is a youtube video of her dancing the "dying swan" it's almost a 90 year old video but it's amazing to see her dance she was so beautiful and elegant and perfect at what she did, i hope if she could see my drawing she would like what i did with it :)

it may be a while i upload any new work , i will be updating my journal when i have something accurate to report but for now hope you enjoy this i may have something else too if time permits :):)

I'm working on a ballerina right now and the tulle is very intimidating. How did you manage to get yours so precise? any tips? As usual you've captured the spirit of the subject. Beautiful.

thank you rebecca so much  i know what you mean it's not easy when shading tutu's or fabric especially when it's white i find that harder than doing a color or black fabric folds, but what i do is the parts on the fabric or in this case the tutu all the highlights and whiter parts i try not to shade there so it can have contrast and on the sides of the crease i will add very light shading usually using an h2 pencil, it's very time consuming but worth it in the end,any parts i want them to look extra white i remove pencil residue with my kneaded eraser :) look forward to seeing your ballerina
